Maserati Project GT4: the GranTurismo becomes a track weapon aiming for 2028

Unveiled at Goodwood 2026, Project GT4 keeps a front-engine, rear-drive layout and the 3.0L Nettuno V6, but sheds around 400 kg versus the road car.

Maserati has revealed its new Project GT4 racer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026. Unlike the GT2 Stradale and MCXtrema, it isn’t built on the MC20 or MCPURA — instead it starts from the updated GranTurismo.

Project GT4 keeps the road coupe’s front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Under the hood sits the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 Nettuno. According to Stellantis, the engine can produce up to 690 hp, though in actual competition the output will most likely be capped by regulations and Balance of Performance.

The biggest changes are in weight and aerodynamics. Compared with the regular GranTurismo, the racing version is around 400 kg lighter. It gains a front splitter, canards, side skirts, a large rear wing, brake-cooling ducts and heat-extraction vents.

The Project GT4 livery combines dark blue, white and yellow. Blue and white are Maserati’s house colours, yellow nods to Modena, and a hundred small tridents mark the centenary of the brand’s logo. The car isn’t due to hit the track before 2028.
