Porsche Readies a New Track Toy: Cayman GT4 Clubsport Prototype Spotted on Video
Porsche is testing what looks like a 2027 Cayman GT4 Clubsport on track. No official reveal yet, but the prototype could become the new 911 GT4 Challenge.
Porsche is continuing development of a track-only prototype that’s being referred to as the 2027 model year Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The car was caught on camera during track running, but there has been no official reveal yet, and the manufacturer hasn’t disclosed any specifications.
The footage itself only confirms the car’s racing focus: the prototype is running pure track tests and visually looks like a customer racing machine rather than a road version. It’s too early to draw conclusions about the engine, power output, gearbox or aerodynamics — those details will only surface after an official announcement from Porsche Motorsport.
The intrigue is sharpened by the fate of the 718 family. Industry outlets have already reported that once the current 718 lineup is phased out, Porsche may replace the Cayman GT4 Clubsport with a new 911 GT4 Challenge for customer racing series. The current 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport remains a key car for private teams: according to Porsche, in 2024 it took part in more than 550 races, scored 19 overall wins, 80 class wins and brought home 11 championship titles.
