Kia Sportage Black Edition: chrome out, dark accents in for the Dutch market
Kia rolls out a Black Edition trim of the Sportage for the Dutch market, swapping chrome for dark accents and adding upmarket equipment from €45,495.
The Kia Sportage has gained a new Black Edition trim aimed at the Dutch market. The crossover goes “blacker than black”, with the focus on darkened trim, blacked-out body details and a more assertive look — without any major mechanical overhaul.
The Sportage Black Edition stands out with a black grille, dark decorative inserts, black mirror caps, roof rails, bumpers, badges and alloy wheels — sized 18 or 19 inches depending on the variant. The idea is straightforward: strip out the chrome and give the family crossover a sharper, more serious presence.
In the Netherlands, the Black Edition is offered as both a full hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Dealers quote a starting price from €45,495, alongside a higher-end Black Edition Advanced version. Standard kit includes features that used to live on top trims: a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, driver-assistance systems, a digital instrument cluster and Kia Connect infotainment.
This isn’t a new generation of the Sportage or a performance variant — the dark trim doesn’t make the car any faster. The real pitch is appearance and the feel of a richer trim level: a way to get a more distinctive crossover without stepping up to a separate flagship version.
