Telo MT1: a pickup the size of a Mini Cooper is no longer just a concept

Telo MT1 is gradually shifting from a bold startup concept into a real production vehicle. The company has updated its plans for manufacturing and partnerships around its compact electric pickup. The core idea behind the model hasn’t changed: give buyers the capability of a pickup without the bulk of a traditional American truck.

By U.S. standards, the MT1 is short: it measures 152 inches, or roughly 386 cm. That’s about the size of a Mini Cooper, yet Telo promises a five-seat cabin and cargo capability close to that of larger pickups. For the city, that format makes sense: the truck is easier to park, takes up less space and still stays practical for hauling.

According to the announced specs, the MT1 will be offered with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Output is expected to reach up to 500 hp, with range of up to 563 km. Earlier reports mentioned a 106 kWh battery, NACS support and fast charging at up to 250 kW. For now, though, these figures should be treated as target specs ahead of a full series launch.

For Telo, the key question now is no longer design but manufacturing. The startup has already shown working pre-production prototypes, raised 20 million dollars and still has to clear certification, crash testing and homologation for the U.S. market. First deliveries are expected in late 2026, though the launch is almost certainly going to be a limited one.
