Volkswagen is putting the finishing touches on the production ID. Cross — a compact electric crossover that will become the battery-powered equivalent of the T-Cross. The model arrives in autumn 2026 and will sit alongside the ID. Polo in much the same way the current T-Cross shadows the combustion Polo.

Volkswagen is still showing the ID. Cross as a near-production concept, but the key specs and unwrapped photos have already made the rounds online. The line-up will offer three powertrains: the entry version pairs a 116 hp motor with a 37 kWh battery and promises 316 km of WLTP range plus DC charging at up to 90 kW. A mid variant uses the same battery but bumps output to 135 hp. The top model steps up to a 52 kWh pack and 211 hp, covers up to 436 km and accepts DC charging at up to 105 kW.

European pricing is already set: the base version starts at €27,990, with orders opening in February 2027.

In size, the ID. Cross stays firmly in city-SUV territory at 4.16 m long. Practicality, though, is supposed to match the usual compact crossovers: a 450-litre boot, a small 25-litre frunk and an interior with a more “homely” finish. Volkswagen is also bringing back more physical controls, so not every function disappears into an on-screen menu.
