Subaru Australia has revealed the new Uncharted and opened pre-orders. The brand frames it as a Sport Electric Vehicle (SEV) built “for instinct” and tuned “for impulse”. The Uncharted slots in alongside the Solterra and Trailseeker and becomes Subaru’s most affordable EV on the Australian market.

The Australian-spec figures are already on the table. Pricing starts at AUD 59,990 before on-road costs, and a dual-motor AWD drivetrain delivers a combined 252 kW. The 0–100 km/h sprint takes around 5 seconds. A 74.7 kWh CATL battery yields a preliminary WLTP range of up to 522 km. DC charging maxes out at 150 kW, with a 10–80 percent top-up in about half an hour. Australian sales are scheduled to begin in mid-2026.

The visual pitch is clear: Subaru is not selling Uncharted as a quiet city EV but as a machine for dusty roads and active driving. The press shots show the car cutting across loose ground, throwing up a cloud of dust, with a high 211 mm ground clearance, plastic body cladding and slim lighting.

Inside, Subaru has kept its familiar control logic. The image shows a steering wheel with the brand’s logo, a large central display and physical buttons on the wheel spokes. For an EV this matters: many new electric models are sliding into all-touch interfaces, while Subaru, judging by the photo, holds on to the usual hardware controls.

The company notes separately that the images are illustrative and that the shots show an optional premium paint finish. Production cars and base trims may look plainer.

For now the Uncharted reads as Subaru’s bid for a more emotional electric crossover — not just a battery and a screen, but a car built around the idea that dust, gravel and a spontaneous detour are part of the brief, with one eye on existing Crosstrek owners who do not want to give up the drive for the sake of going electric.
