BMW Group Belux has landed the largest electric vehicle order ever placed in Belgium with a single car manufacturer. According to BMW's press service, logistics company Katoen Natie will buy 1,000 electric BMW and MINI models to renew its corporate fleet.

By the end of 2027, Katoen Natie plans to replace more than 1,000 combustion-engine vehicles with EVs. The bulk of the order will be the BMW iX1 and MINI Countryman, but the contract also includes the new BMW iX3 and the electric i3 from the Neue Klasse family. The iX3 is already rolling off the BMW plant in Debrecen on a two-shift schedule, while the i3 is set to enter the production line in Munich in August.

Katoen Natie estimates the switch to electric will cut annual CO2 emissions by 3,350 tonnes and reduce fuel use by around 800,000 litres. To support such a fleet, the company will expand its charging infrastructure and invest in renewable energy across Belgium.
