Alpine A390 GTS: a 470-hp electric fastback aimed straight at the Porsche Macan Electric
The 470-hp Alpine A390 GTS electric fastback is open for orders. Priced from around €78,000, it takes on the Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron.
Alpine is rounding out the A390 line-up with a top-tier GTS variant — a more powerful version of its new electric fastback that is already open for orders. It slots above the entry GT and shifts the focus from outright range to driving dynamics.
The A390 GTS uses three electric motors and all-wheel drive. Total output is rated at 470 hp and 824 Nm, with 0–100 km/h covered in 3.9 seconds. The 89 kWh battery supports DC fast charging at up to 190 kW. According to Alpine, the GTS is good for about 520 km on the WLTP cycle, while the headline 555 km figure for the line-up belongs to the lighter GT.
The A390 is not a classic Alpine coupe. It is a 5-seat sport fastback measuring around 4.62 m long, with a 532-litre boot. The format makes it usable every day in a way the A110 never was, while keeping the brand’s usual emphasis on handling. Alpine flags the Active Torque Vectoring system in particular: two electric motors on the rear axle work independently and split torque between the wheels for sharper turn-in. There is also a red Overtake button on the steering wheel that releases full power for ten seconds at a time.
In Europe, the A390 goes head to head with the Porsche Macan Electric, BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron. Spanish sources quote prices from €67,500 for the GT and around €78,000 for the GTS. That puts Alpine deep into premium-EV territory, where it will need to win buyers over not just on power, but on chassis tuning, badge appeal and the kind of driving feel the brand is built on.
