The electric 2027 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ turned out to be surprisingly affordable in Canada. The model starts at CAD 49,900, and once EV incentives and total cost of ownership enter the picture, it can look like a better deal than a Toyota Corolla.

Mercedes hasn’t suddenly gone budget. The CLA 250+ qualifies for Canada’s electric vehicle incentive program, and several provinces stack their own rebates on top. EVs also cost less to charge and maintain, so over a long ownership cycle the gap with a mainstream gasoline sedan shrinks noticeably.

The hardware on the CLA 250+ is serious. The electric sedan packs an 85 kWh battery, rear-wheel drive, 268 hp and a two-speed transmission. EPA-estimated range is 374 miles, or roughly 602 km. DC fast charging at up to 320 kW takes the battery from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes.

A pricier CLA 350 4MATIC version also exists. In Canada it starts at CAD 55,900, with output rising to 349 hp. But the rear-wheel-drive CLA 250+ is the obvious pick for buyers who count dollars rather than just admiring the three-pointed star on the grille.

For shoppers, this is a rare case of a premium EV genuinely stepping onto mainstream territory, not just in marketing. The price is still high, but the range, fast charging and incentives make the CLA 250+ a far less “toy” Mercedes than you might expect.
