Xpeng and Magna Steyr: a fourth model for Graz, but the name is still a secret
After the G6, G9 and P7+, the Chinese brand will add another vehicle to its Austrian assembly line. The name is still under wraps, but the X9 and Mona L03 lead the list of candidates.
Chinese EV maker Xpeng is expanding its European production at Magna Steyr in Graz. After the G6 and G9 crossovers and the electric P7+, the Austrian plant will build a fourth model for the brand. Xpeng has not yet revealed which one.
Assembly in Graz started in September 2025 with the G6 and G9. The P7+ joined the line in early 2026. All of these cars are aimed at the European market, and local production is becoming increasingly important for Chinese brands in light of EU tariffs: on top of the standard 10% import duty, Xpeng faces an additional 20.7% countervailing duty. Building inside the EU removes that burden and signals a long-term commitment to the region.
Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed that the partnership with Magna is being extended: after the G6, G9 and the recently launched P7+, Graz will assemble a fourth model. The name is being kept under wraps, but there are several candidates. One is the seven-seat electric X9 minivan, already available to order in Germany from €77,600. Another option is a member of the Mona family — most likely L03, whose European debut Xpeng is preparing for an event in Munich in July 2026.
For Magna Steyr the deal matters too. The Graz plant specialises in contract manufacturing, and the Chinese orders help fill capacity after other automakers scaled back individual programmes. For Xpeng, the setup offers a fast route to European localisation without building a plant from scratch.
Chinese brands are gradually moving beyond pure export plays and turning into full-fledged players with European assembly, local logistics and market-specific tuning. That will directly affect pricing, delivery times and buyer trust in Chinese EVs across Europe.
