Ford has announced a small but important recall for the 2026 Ranger and Bronco. NHTSA campaign 26V335000 covers 268 vehicles whose tire and certification labels may carry incorrect information.

The issue is not with the engine, transmission or suspension — it is with the numbers that owners and service technicians rely on. The labels may show wrong VIN, payload capacity, seating count, permissible front and rear axle loads, tire and rim sizes, or recommended cold tire pressure.

It looks like a minor detail at first glance, but the consequences are real. Wrong tire pressure or incorrect load data can lead to the wrong tire choice, vehicle overloading or service errors. That is why the recall is tied to a non-compliance with FMVSS 110 “Tire Selection and Rims” and the certification rules of 49 CFR Part 567.

Dealers will inspect the vehicles and, where necessary, replace the certification and TREAD labels free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed starting June 1, 2026. Ford’s internal campaign number is 26C24, and the VINs of affected vehicles have been searchable on the NHTSA site since May 28.

The recall is small in scale but telling: sometimes safety starts not with complex electronics, but with the right numbers on the label in the door jamb.
