Kia EV9 GT-Line: owners are happy with almost everything except its size
Kia's flagship electric SUV impresses with space, comfort and 384 hp AWD, but owners say its sheer size is hard to ignore in tight European streets.
Kia EV9 has become the Korean brand's flagship electric crossover and one of the largest family EVs on sale in Europe. According to a Spanish outlet citing an AutoWeek owner survey, buyers are broadly happy with the car — but those generous proportions come at a price.
The EV9's main strengths are space and comfort. With a length of 5.01 metres, a width of 1.98 metres and a wheelbase of 3.10 metres, the crossover seats six or seven, and owners say even passengers around two metres tall fit comfortably in any row. The car is also praised for its motorway stability, good sound insulation, supportive seats and the generous number of physical buttons for key functions.
In Europe, the EV9 is sold in well-equipped GT-Line trim with a 99.8 kWh battery, all-wheel drive, 384 hp and a WLTP range of up to 521 km. Fast charging at up to 210 kW takes the battery from 20 to 80% in about 22 minutes. Prices start at €85,165, but with promotions and finance deals can drop to €60,920.
The biggest drawback, owners say, is not the tech but the size. On narrow streets, in underground car parks and on steep ramps, the EV9 demands extra attention. There is no rear-wheel steering, so the turning circle becomes a noticeable limitation for a vehicle this large. Driver assistance gets mixed reviews too: some praise the smooth adaptive cruise control, while others complain about abrupt braking and unreliable speed-limit recognition.
