The official reveal of the 2027 Ford Explorer hasn't happened yet, but a build guide has already surfaced online. The big takeaway? More V6 options and fresh packages—though don't expect a radical technical overhaul.

Explorer remains a cornerstone for Ford, ranking among the strongest three-row SUVs in the U.S. market. Rather than mess with a winning formula, the automaker focused on configurator-friendly additions: new exterior packages, roof choices, colors, and expanded availability of high-output powertrains.

An ST Sinister package joins the lineup, bringing 21-inch gloss-black wheels, all-season tires, amber LED daytime running lights, and a red ST badge with a black border. For Platinum, there's a 3.0L Ultimate package that swaps the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost for the V6 3.0. It also includes Lux Leather upholstery, unique stitching, Platinum seat badges, four chrome exhaust outlets, and 21-inch wheels.

The performance gap is significant. The base 2.3 EcoBoost delivers 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque, while the V6 cranks out 400 hp and 563 Nm. For a heavy family hauler, that extra muscle matters: the Explorer tows more confidently under full load, cruises effortlessly on the highway, and appeals to buyers who refuse to sacrifice performance in a three-row SUV.

The Tremor trim gets a Sun and Sound Package with a B&O audio system, multi-contour seats, and a panoramic Vista Roof with power sunshade. A new Ford Security Package includes theft-attempt alerts, engine start blocking, and stolen-vehicle tracking services.

Panoramic Vista Roof makes a comeback. For 2026, it was replaced by a fixed glass panel, but strong customer interest apparently convinced Ford to reintroduce the opening roof. Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum trims also get a Slick Roof Conversion option, which deletes the roof rails for a sleeker profile—though roof-cargo practicality takes a hit.

Color changes: Space White Metallic exits, replaced by Avalanche Gray and Ruby Red Metallic. Expect SiriusXM with 360L on select versions and an illuminated Ford logo. Pricing remains under wraps; the 2026 Explorer starts at $40,585 (roughly 2.91 million rubles), and the 2027 model will likely see a slight increase.

Ford left the Explorer's known shortcomings untouched—the third row is still tight, and base versions lack excitement. But in this segment, buyers typically prefer an established, large SUV with a powerful engine, a comfortable cabin, and a strong dealer presence over groundbreaking innovation. For now, that's enough to keep the Explorer competitive.
