Volvo Extends Battery Warranty for Used EVs and Hybrids
Starting July 2026, Volvo and CarGarantie offer extended battery warranty for used EVs and hybrids. Coverage up to 11 years, no mileage cap via Volvo Selekt.
Starting July 2026, Volvo is teaming up with CarGarantie to offer a new warranty for high-voltage batteries in used electric and hybrid vehicles. Dubbed the Volvo Schweden Garantie, it can extend coverage up to 11 years with no mileage cap. This applies to cars enrolled in the Volvo Selekt program, which includes vehicles under five years old with fewer than 150,000 km on the clock that have passed a rigorous inspection.
For EVs and hybrids, a battery State-of-Health certificate is added to confirm its condition. The warranty is automatically bundled into the 12-month Volvo Schwedengarantie for used cars. It covers significant performance loss due to technical defects but not normal wear and tear.
According to Gerrick van der Gaag, managing director of Volvo Car Germany GmbH, the extended warranty addresses rising demand for electrified used cars. The coverage can be extended to 36 months for an extra fee, applicable to cars up to 10 years old and with a maximum of 200,000 km.
