Lotus Emira 420 Sport: Lighter, Sharper Handling
The Lotus Emira 420 Sport features a 420 hp Mercedes-AMG engine, lighter weight, and sharper handling. It does 0-100 km/h in 3.9s, top speed 299 km/h.
Lotus has revealed the new Emira 420 Sport — a lighter, sharper version of the sports car based on the Emira Turbo. The model gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Mercedes-AMG engine tuned to 420 hp. That's 54 hp more than the standard Emira Turbo and 14 hp more than the SE version.
According to Autocar, the Emira 420 Sport accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and tops out at 299 km/h. But the focus is not on straight-line performance but on handling. Standard equipment includes the Lightweight Handling Pack, which reduces weight by 25 kg to 1,421 kg while adding 25 kg of downforce.
The body gets a new front splitter, revised air ducts, a rear spoiler, wider side sills, and larger air intakes. Airflow to the radiators has increased by 15%, and brake cooling is improved by 10%. The suspension is tuned specifically for this version and lowers the car by 5 mm. High-performance tires and carbon-fiber paddle shifters are also included.
The Emira 420 Sport costs £105,900 (€122,844). A carbon fiber package is available for the splitter, sills, air ducts, side elements, wing, and diffuser. Another feature is a removable roof and a rear hatch with slots inspired by the Esprit Turbo.
