Chevrolet is updating its electric Equinox EV for the 2027 model year. The crossover will gain a Bose premium audio system for the first time.

Currently, all Equinox EV trims come with a standard six-speaker audio system. Some owners have complained about sound quality on social media and forums. A few even tried third-party software to improve it, but according to a source, one such solution has become incompatible with GM's infotainment systems.

Chevrolet hasn't revealed exact specifications for the new Bose system, but it will be part of the Active Safety Package 3, code RPO AS3. On the 2026 Equinox EV, this package is available for LT 2 and RS trims, but not for the base LT 1. It currently costs $3,355 and includes Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, Super Cruise, and Driver Attention Assist.

The addition of Bose is expected to increase the package price by about $600 for the 2027 model year. This creates a key catch for buyers: those who only want good sound will likely have to pay for a set of advanced driver assists as well. That could limit the option's availability.
