Skoda is preparing the official debut of the Epiq, a small electric SUV that should become one of the brand's key models in Europe. It was developed as an electric alternative to the Kamiq: compact on the outside but spacious and family-friendly inside.

The car is based on the MEB Entry platform with front-wheel drive. This is the shared base for future urban EVs from the Volkswagen Group, but Skoda is focusing not on sportiness or premium image, but on trunk space, interior, and everyday practicality. The Epiq is about 4.1 meters long, with a trunk capacity of 475 liters, which is very generous for a B-SUV.

The lineup is expected to include three versions. The base Epiq 35 gets 116 hp, a 37 kWh battery, and a range of 315 km on the WLTP cycle. The Epiq 40 keeps the same battery but power rises to 135 hp. The top Epiq 55 offers 211 hp, a gross battery capacity of 55 kWh, and up to 440 km of range. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes about 24 minutes for this version, and the sprint to 100 km/h takes 7.4 seconds.

Inside, expect a 12.9-inch central screen, a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster, plenty of storage cubbies, eco-friendly materials, and up to nine airbags. Production will be set up at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Spain, which has been modernized for the new family of compact EVs.

The Epiq matters not for record-breaking figures but for its formula: decent range, a large trunk, and the familiar Skoda logic in a small electric crossover body. If the price is reasonable, cars like this could convince Europeans to switch to EVs without feeling like they traded practicality for a battery.
