Renault Austral update: Mild-Hybrid 150 X-Tronic replaces 160 X-Tronic, prices unchanged
Renault updates the Austral with the Mild-Hybrid 150 X-Tronic (149 hp, 270 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 9.9 s). Techno and Esprit Alpine trims keep prices from €44,590.
Renault has updated the powertrain lineup for the Austral crossover. The former Mild-Hybrid 160 X-Tronic with 158 hp and 270 Nm gives way to the new Mild-Hybrid 150 X-Tronic. It still uses the same 1.3-liter gasoline engine, now rated at 149 hp, while torque remains unchanged at 270 Nm. The 0–100 km/h run takes 9.9 seconds—just 0.2 seconds slower than before, a difference most drivers are unlikely to notice in everyday traffic.
The E-Tech 150 X-Tronic hybrid is available in Techno and Esprit Alpine trims. Prices hold steady at 44,590 and 47,490 euros, mirroring the previous versions. Renault is keeping the sticker unchanged despite the reduced output of the new setup, signaling a desire to preserve the Austral’s value proposition.
The updated Renault Austral is already being highlighted among recent motor show debuts. The model keeps its key metrics, including the familiar torque figure and price point. Even with the shift from the Mild-Hybrid 160 X-Tronic to the less powerful Mild-Hybrid 150 X-Tronic, the crossover’s market stance effectively stays the same.
