Volkswagen ID.3 Neo Facelift: Interior Gets Physical Controls and More Tech
The Volkswagen ID.3 Neo facelift replaces touch-sensitive buttons with physical controls and adds a larger 12.9-inch screen. Discover a more premium interior with upgraded materials and tech features.
The Volkswagen ID.3 Neo gets a noticeably updated interior. According to Motor1, the facelift of the electric hatchback from Wolfsburg doesn't completely overhaul the interior architecture, but it does fix several controversial decisions from the previous ID.3.
The biggest change is the return of physical controls. Below the central screen, there are now conventional climate control buttons, and the often-criticized touch-sensitive buttons on the steering wheel have been replaced by traditional ones. A rotary dial for the infotainment system has been added to the center tunnel, making it easier to operate functions while driving.
There are also more tech features. The driver faces a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with various display modes, including a Retro Mode inspired by the first-generation Volkswagen Golf. The central infotainment screen has grown to 12.9 inches, is faster, and comes with 10 years of connected services. Through a dedicated store, you can download apps including Spotify and YouTube. A digital key card on the smartphone is also available: you can unlock and start the car without a traditional key.
Volkswagen has also improved the quality of the materials. In the first ID.3, the materials were often a point of criticism, so the Neo promises nicer surfaces, better-assembled panels, and upgraded door cards. Plastic hasn't disappeared entirely, but the cabin should feel more premium both visually and to the touch. The center tunnel also includes wireless charging and a large storage compartment.
In terms of size, the ID.3 Neo remains a compact electric car at 4.29 meters long, but its 2.76-meter wheelbase helps maintain a spacious cabin. The trunk is unchanged, with a minimum volume of 385 liters and space under the floor for charging cables.
