Mercedes-Benz is preparing to launch a new long-wheelbase electric GLC SUV in China. Pre-orders will open in early June, with full sales starting in July.

The model’s main highlight is its increased size. The body length is 4933 mm, and the wheelbase measures 3027 mm. This makes the electric GLC longer than the gasoline GLC L, promising more passenger space inside.

Externally, the new model adopts the latest Mercedes-Benz design language. The front end features an illuminated grille with 942 polycarbonate light elements that light up sequentially as you approach the car. The headlights and taillights incorporate three-pointed star motifs, and there’s a full-width light bar at the rear. A practical addition is the 128-liter front trunk.

The interior follows a new digital theme. The dashboard features a wide screen stretching almost the full width, and ambient lighting with 1000 individual LEDs supports separate zone adjustment. The virtual assistant, named Xiao Ben, runs on the Doubao large language model and understands dialects, including Cantonese.

Standard equipment includes wireless charging, two cupholders, a 19-speaker Burmester audio system, and a large panoramic star sky roof. For the first time in the GLC lineup, a 6-seat configuration is available, with second-row individual seats that can be ordered with ventilation and heating.

Underpinning the electric GLC is an 800-volt architecture. It uses a triple lithium battery with a usable capacity of 85.5 kWh, providing a range of over 700 km on the CLTC cycle. Peak charging power is 320 kW, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in 22 minutes.
