Xpeng G9L: New Large Crossover with EV and Hybrid Options
Xpeng unveils the G9L, a large crossover with EV and EREV powertrains. First images and specifications leaked from Chinese database. Length 5.12m, up to 500+ hp.
Chinese automaker Xpeng is readying a new large crossover called the G9L. The first images and specifications have surfaced via China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology database. The new model is expected to slot between the existing Xpeng G9 and the larger GX.
Despite the name, the G9L isn't simply a stretched G9. The car has its own body, and its underpinnings are actually closer to the Xpeng GX. Length comes in at 5.12 meters, with a wheelbase of 3.1 meters. For reference, the standard G9 measures about 4.9 meters long with a wheelbase just under three meters.
In China, the G9L will offer two powertrain options. The fully electric version comes with rear-wheel drive and 367 hp, plus an all-wheel-drive variant with over 500 hp. There's also an EREV (series hybrid with range extender) version, available in both rear- and front-wheel-drive configurations. All versions use a 63.3 kWh battery.
Few other details are available at this point. Xpeng hasn't disclosed range, fuel consumption for the hybrid, exact launch timing, trim levels, or pricing. The source also suggests it's unlikely the G9L will reach the European market, with no information on European sales.
