Ineos Grenadier Trailmaster X Blends Off-Road Capability with Daily Comfort
The Ineos Grenadier Trailmaster X offers serious off-road features without the extreme price of the LeTech model. Standard axles make it more practical for daily driving.
Ineos has unveiled the Grenadier Trailmaster X, a version aimed at those who want serious off-road capability without the sky-high price tag of the LeTech model with portal axles. That variant costs around €170,000, while the Trailmaster X starts at £75,995 (€87,900).
The key difference is the use of standard axles instead of portal units. Yes, ground clearance and ultimate capability take a hit compared to the LeTech, but the result is a far more logical choice for daily driving. For most owners, that trade-off makes more sense—after all, not every Grenadier owner tackles rocks, fords, and expedition-class trails on a daily basis.
The Trailmaster X essentially blends the off-road-focused Trailmaster equipment with the more comfort-oriented Fieldmaster spec. That means three locking differentials, a raised air intake, roof rails, a towing package, waterproof surfaces, utility tie-down rails, a prepped electrical system, and Recaro seats.
Comfort upgrades include 17-inch wheels, leather front seats with heating, an upgraded audio system, carpet floor mats, tinted windows, Safari windows, and a lockable storage box in the spare tire carrier. The package is available for both the Grenadier Station Wagon and the Quartermaster pickup.
Under the hood, it's the same BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six. European buyers will get a choice of petrol or diesel, while the US market gets only the petrol B58.
The Trailmaster X isn't trying to be the most extreme Grenadier. Instead, it's about retaining the rugged off-road character while stripping away some of the expensive exoticism. Sometimes the best off-roader isn't the one that looks like a military vehicle, but the one you can drive home in comfort afterward.
