Cadillac Lyriq Transformed into an Electric Hearse
Cadillac Lyriq becomes an electric hearse. Wolf Coach Builders creates two versions for quiet funeral processions. Discover this unique EV conversion.
Cadillac Lyriq has been given one of its most unconventional configurations yet — it has been transformed into an electric hearse. Florida-based Wolf Coach Builders created two versions: the classic Flagship Legacy model featuring a tall black roof, and the Panorama variant with a glass rear section.
For these projects, GM supplies the rear-wheel-drive Lyriq BQ9 platform in a professional-grade configuration. This isn't just some random experiment; it's a continuation of Cadillac's long-standing tradition. Since the 1950s, the brand has built commercial chassis from which hearses and ambulances were constructed. A famous example is the 1959 Miller-Meteor Duplex, which later gained fame as the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters.
An electric hearse might sound odd at first, but only for a moment. In practice, this type of vehicle is nearly ideal for funeral services: it doesn't need to rack up huge daily mileage, but quietness, a smooth ride, and low regular maintenance costs are critical. For a funeral home, the Lyriq could actually be more practical than a gasoline-powered Cadillac.
Meanwhile, the production Lyriq stays true to the brand's core values: restraint and status. In this role, it doesn't need a thundering V8 or a dramatic exhaust note. What matters here is smooth, quiet operation, minimal attention, and a dignified appearance fitting for a final journey.
Of course, car enthusiasts will inevitably wonder: who will be the first to turn this Lyriq into a new Ecto-1? Cadillac has provided the base; now all it needs is a siren, a ladder, and a touch of cinematic insanity.
