Ford Bronco Basecamp preorders start Nov 18 with EV and hybrid options
Preorders for the Ford Bronco Basecamp open Nov 18. Urban‑ready SUV with off‑road flavor, EV and hybrid powertrains, 650 km range, AR‑HUD, camping modes and more
Ford says preorders for the new Bronco Basecamp will open on November 18. The model draws on the Bronco Sport’s design language, but it’s been tailored for the market as a modern urban SUV with off-road flavor. A “blind” reservation phase is already underway: a 1,000‑yuan deposit comes with a bonus camping kit.
On the outside, the newcomer blends the Bronco’s signature look with calmer, city-friendly proportions. An illuminated BRONCO script is integrated into the front fascia, the headlights are tied together by a wide grille, and the pronounced arches with a “floating” roofline hint at trail ambitions. At the rear sits the Bronco’s classic external spare wheel. Both versions share the same footprint: length 5,025 mm, width 1,960 mm and a 2,950 mm wheelbase. The execution feels cohesive—urban-ready without losing the brand’s rugged identity.
The cabin leans into technology. A 15.6‑inch 2.5K central display pairs with a Snapdragon 8255 chip, a surround‑view system and route guidance designed for trips into nature. There’s a 70‑inch AR‑HUD, voice AI and a 21‑speaker audio setup. Both front and rear seats can fold to form a flat sleeping surface—an undeniably practical touch for weekend escapes.
The electric version uses two motors (130 and 202 kW) and a 105.4‑kWh battery for up to 650 km of range. The hybrid combines a 1.5T gasoline engine with two electric motors (130/180 kW). Its 43.7‑kWh battery provides 220 km on electric power and up to 1,220 km in total. On paper, the split between pure EV reach and long-haul hybrid capability covers daily errands and longer journeys with equal ease.
The vehicle supports 6.6 kW external power, a lifting roof and dedicated camping modes. Safety is handled by the Ford Assist suite with 32 sensors, including lidar—an extensive set of eyes for an SUV aimed at both city streets and the trailhead.
