Bentley's First Electric Luxury SUV Spied Testing at the Nürburgring

Bentley's first all-electric SUV, a luxury urban model, spied testing at the Nürburgring. No hybrid or gas variants; debuts in 2026 on the PPE platform.

Bentley's first series-production electric vehicle is on the way, and a prototype has already been spotted testing at the Nürburgring. According to Motor1, the new model will be an SUV slotted below the Bentayga, though calling it compact is a stretch—it's expected to reach almost five meters in length. Bentley describes the vehicle as the world's first Luxury Urban SUV and plans to unveil it in 2026.

For buyers, the critical takeaway is that this EV won't be offered with any other type of engine. There will be no gasoline, hybrid, or range-extender variants. That decision stems from both Bentley's strategy and the vehicle's architecture—it's engineered from the ground up as a full electric. According to Motor1, the SUV will use the Volkswagen Group's PPE platform, which is purpose-built for electric models.

Bentley has yet to disclose official specifications. Industry experts expect a close mechanical relationship with the future Porsche Cayenne Electric, anticipating a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, rapid charging capability, and a healthy power output. Still, those details remain speculative for now. What is confirmed is that the new model forms part of Bentley's Beyond100+ strategy, under which the marque will introduce a new plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle every year through the next decade.

However, Bentley isn't abandoning internal combustion abruptly. The company recently pushed back its target for an all-electric lineup from 2030 to 2035 and will continue selling gasoline and plug-in hybrid models, including the upcoming next-generation Bentayga. In other words, the first EV will arrive as a distinct model, not as a blanket replacement for the traditional Bentleys customers know.
