Ram 1500–5500 recall: steering module may block driver airbag deployment

Stellantis recalls Ram 1500–5500 (2021–2022) for a steering column module fault that may block airbag deployment. Free fix; NHTSA VINs; notices Dec 11, 2025.

Stellantis has announced a recall of 532 Ram 1500–5500 pickups built for the 2021–2022 model years. A potential fault in the steering column control module may block the driver’s airbag from deploying, a breach of federal requirements that heightens the risk of injury in a crash.

Dealers will install a new module at no charge. Owner notifications are slated to begin on December 11, 2025. Vehicle VINs are already available for lookup in the NHTSA database, and owners can also call to confirm details.

The campaign covers trucks in multiple configurations, including commercial versions. Against the backdrop of similar reports, safety has become a decisive factor for many buyers. Stellantis says the defect will be addressed through the service campaign and recommends using the trucks only after the module is replaced. The number of vehicles is modest, but anything that can inhibit airbag deployment is not the sort of issue to delay.
