Tesla makes Model 3 and Model Y more affordable with interest-free loans in China
Tesla is offering up to five-year interest-free installment plans on Model 3 and Model Y in China this May, with low down payments and monthly installments, responding to heated competition.
Tesla has made buying its cars in China much simpler. In May, the company is offering Model 3 and Model Y with interest-free installment plans of up to five years, significantly reducing the financial burden of purchase.
The basic terms are attractive: a down payment starting at 79,900 yuan (about $11,000), and monthly payments as low as 2,460 yuan ($360). For the larger Model Y Long Range, the initial payment is higher, starting at 99,900 yuan. Additionally, there is a discount of around 8,000 yuan on options and special charging bonuses.
There is also an alternative option with a minimum down payment of 45,900 yuan, but with a small interest rate (from 0.5% per year). This offers more flexibility for those looking to lower upfront costs. All these offers are only valid for orders placed and vehicles delivered in May.
These terms are not just a promotion but a response to the market. Competition in China is heating up, and manufacturers are forced to lower barriers for buyers. As a result, buying an electric vehicle increasingly looks like a regular loan for a mass-market car rather than a premium investment.
