Volkswagen ID. Polo Revealed: Electric Hatchback with Historic Names Returns

Volkswagen is set to unveil its new electric ID. Polo on April 29. The model represents a key launch for the brand and introduces a new naming system that revives historic names.

The car rides on the MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive and features the new APP 290 electric motor. Initially, three versions will be offered: 116 hp and 135 hp with a 37 kWh battery and charging speeds up to 90 kW, plus a 211 hp variant with a 52 kWh battery. The top model has a range of 450 km and supports fast charging at up to 130 kW.

The vehicle measures 4053 mm in length, with a trunk capacity of 435 liters (up to 1243 liters with seats folded). The starting price is expected to be under €25,000 for base trims.

A hotter ID. Polo GTI with 226 hp is anticipated this summer, marking the brand's first electric performance model.

Inside, a 13-inch Android-based infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster feature. Physical buttons also return for key functions.
