Toyota Unveils Hybrid Land Cruiser Prado at Beijing Auto Show
Toyota reveals the Land Cruiser Prado HEV at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, blending off-road capability with hybrid efficiency for lower fuel consumption.
Toyota unveiled a hybrid version of the Land Cruiser Prado HEV at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The model retains its body-on-frame construction and classic off-road architecture, now featuring an electrified powertrain.
The show car sports retro styling with straight body lines, square headlights, and a massive front bumper. Plastic body cladding adds protection, while roof-mounted accessories like a cargo box and ladder emphasize off-road capability.
Under the hood, a hybrid system combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor. Toyota already uses a similar setup in other models, aiming to lower fuel consumption and improve low-end torque.
Toyota hasn't detailed the Prado HEV's interior at the show, but the company has previously highlighted modern infotainment and digital displays in its latest model generations.
The SUV keeps all-wheel drive and is engineered for harsh conditions, according to the automaker. The ladder frame and increased ground clearance remain key structural elements.
The arrival of the Prado hybrid is part of Toyota's broader strategy to electrify its lineup, with new crossover generations already adopting hybrid powertrains as standard.
