2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI revealed at Beijing Auto Show

At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled the new Golf GTI. Photos from the event show that the model retains the familiar five-door hatchback layout and signature GTI cues: red bodywork, sporty body kit, large wheels, and red brake calipers.

According to the display information, the new Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a displacement of 1984 cc. Maximum output is 162 kW (220 hp) at 4900-6700 rpm, with peak torque of 350 Nm from 1600 to 4300 rpm. Transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG.

The car measures 4289 mm in length, 1788 mm in width, and 1468 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2631 mm. Cargo volume stands at 342 liters, and curb weight is 1464 kg. The fuel consumption figure on the display board is 6.82 L/100 km combined.

Volkswagen has kept the GTI's trademark sporty touches: a honeycomb front bumper grille, tinted lights, a roof spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. In its Beijing appearance, the Golf GTI comes across as a classic hot hatch reimagined for today.
