C'eLavie Cross: Renault Twingo turned into a Porsche-inspired crossover

Japanese company Hatano Automobile unveils the C'eLavie Cross, a modified Renault Twingo with crossover styling inspired by the Porsche 911 Dakar. Limited to 20 units.

Japanese company Hatano Automobile has unveiled an unusual project based on the Renault Twingo, transforming the compact city hatchback into a crossover version with design inspired by the Porsche 911 Dakar.

The model is called the C'eLavie Cross and differs significantly from the standard Twingo. The car features wide body kits, new bumpers, extended fenders, and increased ground clearance. The look is completed with rally-style round headlights and distinctive Turbofan wheels that nod to iconic models of the past.

Technically, the project remains close to the original: under the hood sits a three-cylinder turbo engine producing 90 horsepower. However, for an additional fee, suspension and engine modifications are available, making the car more versatile. A version with a sportier setup based on the Twingo GT is also being offered.

Interestingly, Hatano plans to produce only 20 such cars, with some already finding buyers. The cost of the conversion starts at around 1.35 million yen, comparable to the price of a used budget car.

Projects like this highlight how perceptions of cars are changing. Today, it's not just about which car is best to buy, but also how well it can reflect the owner's style. In this sense, even the compact Twingo can become a distinctive element of personal expression.
