Discover the 2026 BYD Sea Lion 05 crossover with new hybrid and electric powertrains, advanced tech like DiLink 150, and competitive pricing in the affordable SUV segment.
BYD has launched the updated Sea Lion 05 crossover, a 2026 model year vehicle that features a modernized powertrain lineup and expanded equipment while maintaining a competitive price.
The Sea Lion 05 boasts a contemporary digital interior with the DiLink 150 system and a large rotating display. Optional features include a lidar sensor and the DiPilot 300 driver assistance system, positioning the model as a new benchmark in the affordable crossover segment. The car also comes with wireless charging, improved cabin ergonomics, and updated electronic architecture.
Externally, the model retains its recognizable styling but gains a more aggressive front bumper and refined lighting. With a length of 4,620 mm and a wheelbase of 2,770 mm, the body fits the compact SUV class. It uses a platform that accommodates both hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
The key update is the new engine lineup. The fifth-generation DM-i hybrid version offers up to 305 km of electric range and a total range of 2,105 km when including the internal combustion engine. Fuel consumption with a depleted battery is just 3.1 liters per 100 km. The electric version is equipped with motors producing up to 240 kW and a second-generation Blade battery, delivering up to 630 km of range on the CLTC cycle.
In practice, the BYD Sea Lion 05 exemplifies the brand's strategy: delivering maximum technology for minimal cost. This combination of hybrid efficiency, electric capability, and advanced assistance systems makes the model a serious competitor to both Chinese and global players in the affordable SUV segment.
