Cadillac launches Lyriq-V electric crossover tour across Japan
Cadillac's Lyriq-V EV is touring Japan with test drives and pre-orders. Learn about the premium electric crossover's specs, pricing, and market strategy.
Cadillac is strengthening its position in the Japanese auto market by launching a major tour for its new electric crossover, the Lyriq-V. Just weeks after the local debut of the right-hand-drive version, the brand has begun its "Unleash The V Power" campaign, which will showcase the model at dealerships across the country.
The first stage kicked off in Tokyo's Shinagawa district. The tour will cover 10 major cities and run through mid-June. Visitors will not only see the Lyriq-V in person but can also sign up for test drives, making the format closely resemble a full-scale launch. Technically, this is a high-performance electric vehicle—the flagship version of the Lyriq, aimed at the premium segment.
In Japan, the model is priced at 18.9 million yen (approximately $118,700). It is available exclusively by pre-order and will be imported from the United States. This context matters: the tour coincides with the pre-order window, which opened on March 25 and closes on June 21.
So, Cadillac isn't just showcasing a new model; it's directly stimulating demand during a crucial phase of the vehicle's market entry. The first deliveries of the Lyriq-V are expected only in early 2027. This highlights the brand's strategy: to generate early interest in the EV and establish a foothold in Japan's premium segment, where competition among electric vehicles is rapidly intensifying.
Cadillac is following a classic premium playbook—create buzz first, then convert it into orders. For the auto market, this signals that the battle for customers in the EV segment is reaching a new level. The Lyriq-V could be an important step for the brand in solidifying its presence in Asia.
