Mercedes-Benz has opened orders for its electric minivan, the VLE, in Germany. According to a press release, the starting price is €82,260 for the five-seat version and €82,712 for the six-seat model. More affordable trims with basic equipment are expected later and will cost around €70,000.

At launch, the VLE 300 is available with front-wheel drive and a 200 kW electric motor. It features a 115 kWh battery and can travel over 700 km on the WLTP cycle, depending on configuration.

A key highlight is the 800-volt architecture. This detail matters because it enables charging at up to 300 kW, allowing the vehicle to regain about 355 km of range in just 15 minutes.

In practice, this means the lineup will expand to include an all-wheel-drive VLE 400 4MATIC with 305 kW and a more affordable VLE 250 with an LFP battery.

The model offers various interior options, ranging from basic to premium setups with individual seats and a large ceiling screen. Systems like Airmatic, a panoramic roof, and the MBUX Superscreen package are also available.

Overall, the picture is straightforward: the new VLE is a key debut at auto shows, marking the start of Mercedes-Benz's new electric minivan lineup with a focus on comfort, flexibility, and range.
