Geely EX2 electric hatchback: affordable EV with innovative tech

Chinese automaker Geely is set to launch its new electric hatchback, the EX2. Positioned by the manufacturer as one of the most appealing budget models in the electric vehicle segment, it offers competitive features and innovative technologies.

At the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show, where a pre-production version of the EX2 was unveiled, Geely Australia confirmed that the car will arrive in local showrooms between July and September of this year.

The technical highlights of the Geely EX2 include a powerful lithium-ion battery with an efficient liquid cooling system. This setup ensures optimal performance and safe operation even in extreme weather conditions.

The EX2 is built on the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA), the same platform used for the Geely EX5 and Starray EM-i. However, its electric motor is mounted on the rear axle instead of the front.

The interior stands out with its modern design and high comfort levels. At the center of the cabin is a large 14.6-inch touchscreen for the multimedia system, which supports integration with popular platforms like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster complements the infotainment setup, providing easy access to all key vehicle information.

Buyers have a wide range of color options beyond the standard Moon White. For an additional cost, customers can choose unique shades such as Aurora Green, Comet Grey, Nebula Beige, Jupiter Pink, and Star Silver.

Additionally, as part of special promotional campaigns, buyers will receive extra benefits like a free home charging unit and extended service warranties.
