Polestar 3 electric crossover gets faster charging and battery software

Polestar updates the Polestar 3 with an 800-volt system for 350 kW fast charging, reaching 10-80% in 22 minutes. New Breathe Charge software enhances efficiency and cold-weather performance.

Polestar has updated its Polestar 3 electric crossover, implementing an 800-volt architecture and boosting maximum fast-charging power to 350 kW. This enables charging the battery from 10% to 80% in roughly 22 minutes.

Switching to the new architecture required replacing key components, including batteries, electric motors, inverters, and cable systems. The higher voltage reduces thermal loads and energy losses, while also lowering wiring requirements.

Additionally, the company has introduced Breathe Charge software. This system analyzes battery status in real time and adjusts charging speed to enhance efficiency and preserve battery life. According to the manufacturer, range can increase up to 38% faster during a 10-minute charge compared to previous settings.

Special attention has been paid to cold-weather performance. Tests show the new system delivers comparable range in low temperatures as it does under optimal charging conditions without this software. Overall, the update elevates the Polestar 3 within the urban EV segment, emphasizing charging speed and battery stability across various climates.
