Skoda Octavia hybrid update with new powertrain coming soon

Skoda is updating the Octavia with a hybrid powertrain by 2026-2027, based on Volkswagen tech, offering efficiency and digital features. Learn more about this new model.

Skoda is preparing an update for its popular Octavia model with a new hybrid powertrain. According to sources, the full hybrid version could arrive by late 2026 or early 2027.

The company isn't abandoning internal combustion engines but is betting on hybrid technology as a transitional step toward reducing emissions. This new powertrain will be based on Volkswagen's solutions, already used in models like the T-Roc and Golf.

The Octavia is expected to retain its current MQB platform and familiar design. Inside, digital features will remain, including up to 13-inch multimedia screens, ChatGPT support, and Level 2 driver assistance systems. Boot space should stay around 552 liters.

The hybrid version will pair a 1.5 TSI evo2 engine with an electric motor and a battery under the rear seats. This setup may allow brief all-electric driving in urban areas. Preliminary data suggests the gasoline engine could produce 130 to 150 horsepower, while the electric component might reach up to 170 horsepower. Exact specifications and launch timing have not been confirmed.

This model will broaden options for those eyeing new cars in 2026, offering a balance between efficiency and traditional technology.
