Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport returns with new engine
Chevrolet revives the Corvette Grand Sport for 2027, featuring a 535-hp LS6 engine, orders opening April 2026, production in June. Learn specs, pricing, and release details.
Chevrolet is preparing to bring back the Corvette Grand Sport, with orders opening on April 16, 2026, and serial production starting in June at the Bowling Green plant. The 2027 model will slot between the Stingray and more expensive versions, offering more powerful hardware and improved dynamics.
The company plans to publish a configurator on April 13, with prices becoming known during the week of April 20. Production is expected to begin around June 8, with the first deliveries to dealers anticipated in the summer—July or August.
The Grand Sport will serve as a pricier alternative to the Stingray while remaining below extreme versions like the Z06 and ZR1. Meanwhile, in the second half of the year, orders will open for an even more powerful Grand Sport X variant.
The main difference is a new naturally aspirated LS6 engine with a 6.7-liter displacement. It produces 535 horsepower and 705 Nm of torque, featuring dual injection, an increased compression ratio of 13.0:1, and reinforced internal components.
The engine also comes with a refined dry-sump lubrication system, enhancing reliability during track use. In terms of performance, the newcomer should be quicker than the base Stingray, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
The Grand Sport X version is particularly intriguing. According to preliminary data, its total power will reach 721 horsepower, bringing the model closer to hybrid Corvette variants.
Against the backdrop of the current lineup, where prices start at around $70,000 for the Stingray and exceed $200,000 for the ZR1X, the new Grand Sport will become an important intermediate option for enthusiasts.
The return of the Grand Sport shows that Chevrolet continues to develop the classic Corvette formula—a powerful naturally aspirated engine and a focus on driving dynamics. At the same time, this new version fills a gap in the lineup by offering a balance between price, power, and track capabilities.
