Toyota updates Land Cruiser 250 SUV for Japanese market
Toyota has updated the Land Cruiser 250 SUV with enhanced safety systems and anti-theft features, including driver assistance and key detection, for the Japanese market.
Toyota has updated the Land Cruiser 250 SUV for the Japanese market, two years after its initial debut. The main changes focus on safety and anti-theft features, which is particularly relevant for a model that frequently appears on lists of the most stolen vehicles.
The VX version with a gasoline engine now comes with an expanded suite of driver assistance systems. These include Toyota Teammate Advanced Drive with traffic jam support, driver monitoring, front cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and emergency steering control.
Anti-theft protection has received special attention. A key distance detection system has been implemented that prevents engine start if the key is too far away. There's also a new remote engine lock feature available through the T-Connect service.
Inside the cabin, power-adjustable seats have been added: the driver's seat with memory function and the passenger seat with basic adjustments. Externally, the model remains largely unchanged, but new body colors and optional round LED headlights are now available.
Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 2.7-liter engine producing 160 horsepower continues, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The diesel version will receive updates later, after December 2026.
