Press days for the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS 2026) officially began in the United States on April 1st. The event itself runs from April 3rd to 12th at the Javits Center. The first two days are traditionally when automakers unveil their major premieres, and this year is no different—several strategically important models are set to be revealed right from the start.

Subaru and the Trend Toward Powerful Hybrids

One of the main headlines comes from Subaru, which is preparing two global debuts. The brand has introduced a new hybrid crossover, the Wilderness, and also announced a fully electric three-row SUV with around 420 horsepower. This move confirms the brand's focus on strengthening its position in the family and off-road vehicle segments with alternative powertrains.

Kia and Volkswagen Update Key Models

Kia is using the NYIAS platform for the North American premiere of the second-generation 2027 Seltos. The crossover features a redesigned look, modern electronics, and improved specs, positioning it as a key player in the mass-market segment. Meanwhile, Volkswagen will hold the world premiere of the new 2027 Atlas—a three-row SUV with a refreshed interior and an updated EA888 engine, specifically tailored for the U.S. market.

Infiniti, Genesis, and the Focus on Image

Infiniti has brought an all-new crossover, the QX65, marking the brand's first truly new model in years and potentially signaling a lineup reboot. Genesis will emphasize premium appeal by showcasing the G90 Wingback concept and the production GV60 Magma, bolstering its standing in the luxury EV segment. At the same time, Stellantis presented the updated 2027 Chrysler Pacifica and a special edition Dodge Durango America250, commemorating the U.S. anniversary.

Overall, the New York Auto Show has once again solidified its status as a key venue for the North American market.
