GM to replace tailgate release button on 2025–2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ/IQL

GM launches service campaign N252519350 for 2025–2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ/IQL EVs, replacing a faulty tailgate release button badge free at Cadillac dealers.

General Motors has launched a new service campaign for the 2025–2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL electric SUVs. The move stems from an issue with the rear badge integrated into the tailgate release button. The adhesive that holds the badge can lose strength, allowing the piece to peel and separate from the button’s surface.

Because the badge in these models isn’t merely decorative but part of the touch-switch module, any damage disrupts proper operation of the power tailgate. The manufacturer has announced program N252519350, under which all owners will receive a free replacement button with an updated assembly.

The work is handled exclusively at authorized Cadillac service centers, where technicians are trained on electric models. The procedure takes about 25 minutes, and parts are supplied centrally to avoid shortages. Dealers are not allowed to stockpile components—each unit is ordered for a specific customer.

The campaign started in November 2025 and will run through the end of 2027. GM has also required checks on all new and used Escalade IQ/IQL vehicles before sale to ensure the defect has been addressed.

Even premium EVs aren’t immune to small stumbles, yet what matters here is GM’s quick, methodical response. Unlike many rivals, Cadillac is moving to fix the issue before it can swell into a reputational problem. It’s a minor fix, but the kind of detail that shapes day-to-day impressions of a high-end electric SUV.
