Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV launches in UK after six-year hiatus
Mitsubishi announces its UK comeback with the Outlander PHEV hybrid, featuring 300+ hp, 800 km range, and seven seats. Available from May 2026, starting at £46,995.
Mitsubishi has officially announced its return to the UK market after a six-year hiatus. The first model will be the new Outlander PHEV, which is set to be the key product in the brand's relaunch strategy.
A Hybrid Focused on Versatility
The Outlander PHEV features a powertrain based on a 2.4-litre petrol engine and two electric motors. Combined power exceeds 300 horsepower, with a claimed range of over 800 km, making it one of the longest-range hybrids in its segment.
The Super All-Wheel Control system with seven driving modes highlights its off-road capability. For the first time in the UK market, a seven-seat version is available, aimed at family buyers.
Price, Trims, and Sales Launch
The base price will be £46,995, with two versions on offer: the seven-seat Nativa and the more equipped five-seat Diamond. Initial customer deliveries will begin in May 2026.
Simultaneously, Mitsubishi is establishing a new dealer network of 60 locations, which will complement the existing after-sales service infrastructure. This is a crucial step in rebuilding trust in the brand.
Mitsubishi's Return Strategy
The return of the Outlander PHEV is part of the company's broader strategy to re-enter the European market. After withdrawing in 2020, Mitsubishi is revising its approach, focusing on hybrid and electric models.
Future plans include launching other models, such as the next-generation L200 pickup. In this way, the brand aims to reclaim a niche in the segment of practical and technologically advanced SUVs.
Overall, the Outlander PHEV represents more than just a new model; it symbolises Mitsubishi's comeback, where hybrid technology and everyday versatility play a key role.
