SAIC-GM has released the first official teaser for the 2026 Buick Electra Encasa, a next-generation electrified MPV that will sit at the top of the Electra NEV sub-brand. The model is aimed at the Chinese market and is expected to go on sale in the coming days.

Electra Encasa becomes the second entry in Buick’s fresh electric lineup after the Electra L7 EREV sedan, which is already on sale. The newcomer continues the brand’s push to bring premium models to market at accessible price points.

The manufacturer presents Electra Encasa as an ultra-luxury family vehicle in a new class, combining streamlined aerodynamics, a spacious cabin, and modern tech. Air suspension is standard, and with a 5.27-meter body and a 3.16-meter wheelbase, the minivan is set up to maximize passenger comfort. Those dimensions alone suggest lounge-like room and a relaxed ride, the sort of brief that matters most in this category.

The model rides on the new Xiao Yao Electric Super Platform and will be offered in two versions: a True Dragon PHEV hybrid and a fully electric variant. That two-pronged approach should broaden its appeal, whether buyers prioritize range flexibility or zero-emission driving.

Buick plans to market Electra Encasa in China without the GL8 index, putting the spotlight on the Electra name as a marker of a new generation of premium electric cars. Sales are scheduled to start in late 2025, and Electra Encasa will serve as the lineup’s flagship and a direct rival to the Zeekr 009 and Li MEGA in the premium MPV space. The positioning suggests Buick aims to raise the bar for the segment rather than simply extend a familiar nameplate.
