Leapmotor A05 electric hatchback details and European market plans

Learn about the Leapmotor A05, a compact electric hatchback with 95-122 hp, LFP batteries, and potential European production. Competing with VW ID.3 and MG4.

Chinese automaker Leapmotor is preparing to launch a new model, the A05, a compact electric hatchback that may also debut on the European market. Local production, potentially in Spain through collaboration with Stellantis, is under consideration.

The Leapmotor A05 will serve as the brand's entry-level model, complementing the B10 and C10 SUVs and the urban electric T03. At 4.2 meters in length, it fits into Europe's compact hatchback segment, where it will compete with the Volkswagen ID.3 and MG4.

The car will feature an electric motor with either 95 or 122 horsepower and LFP batteries. These batteries are known for their lower cost and high durability, though exact capacity specifications have not yet been revealed.

Its design adopts a minimalist approach, with smooth body surfaces, narrow LED lighting, and concealed door handles. The rear end features horizontal tail lights and clean bumper lines.

In terms of equipment, a modular strategy is employed. Depending on the version, systems with lidar and a camera suite, including sensors in the mirrors and bumper, may be available. Customization options, ranging from different wheel designs to two-tone paint, are also offered.

This model targets the mass-market segment of urban electric vehicles, where price, technology, and practicality remain key factors.
