BMW i3 electric sedan unveiled in new images ahead of debut

Images of the new BMW i3 electric sedan show its production design based on the Neue Klasse concept, featuring a 500-mile range and 400 kW fast charging.

Images of the new BMW i3 electric sedan have surfaced online ahead of its official debut on March 18. The photos reveal the production version of the model, which is based on the Neue Klasse concept.

The design retains the concept's key features. The front end features a fresh interpretation of BMW's signature grille, which is now significantly narrower and stretches across the entire width of the front panel. The grille's outline is illuminated, and it houses new LED headlights.

The bodywork is characterized by clean lines and minimalist styling. The car features flush door handles and a traditional BMW design element—the Hofmeister kink in the rear pillar. At the rear, slim LED taillights are integrated into a single, cohesive unit.

The interior adopts a modern aesthetic as well. Inside, a large, freestanding touchscreen display dominates the center of the dashboard, while the steering wheel features a four-spoke design, similar to the new BMW iX3.

Under the skin, the new BMW i3 will be built on the Neue Klasse platform with an 800-volt electrical architecture. This setup supports fast charging at up to 400 kW. According to preliminary data, the model's range could reach approximately 500 miles on a single charge.
