Subaru Heritage Service supports early Impreza WRX and STI owners
Subaru's new Heritage Service program in Japan provides original spare parts for 1990s GC platform Impreza WRX and STI models, aiding collectors and enthusiasts.
Subaru has launched a new Heritage Service program aimed at supporting owners of early Impreza WRX and STI models. Currently available only in Japan, the program focuses on vehicles built on the GC platform from the mid-1990s.
As part of this initiative, the company will begin producing original spare parts for these iconic sports models. The list includes engine gaskets, headlights, rubber body components, and other parts that tend to wear out or become scarce over time.
Interestingly, Subaru compiled this parts list after analyzing high-mileage vehicles. Engineers disassembled cars with over 200,000 kilometers on the odometer to identify the most vulnerable components.
The program was unveiled at the Nostalgic 2 Days exhibition in Yokohama. There, Subaru showcased a rare 1996 Impreza Type RA STI Ver.II V-Limited—one of just 555 units produced to commemorate the brand's victory in the 1995 World Rally Championship.
For now, parts can only be ordered through Subaru dealers in Japan. However, experience with other automakers suggests such programs often expand to other markets. For instance, similar initiatives from Mazda and Honda initially launched in Japan before becoming available overseas.
Given the growing interest from collectors in early generations of these models, it's plausible the program could eventually extend to American versions of the WRX and STI.
