Jeep Recon EV confirmed for spring 2026 with real off-road DNA

Jeep Recon EV arrives in spring 2026: STLA Large platform, dual-motor AWD, removable doors, opening roof. An electric Wrangler spirit built for real trails.

Jeep has confirmed that the long-awaited Recon EV will reach the market in spring 2026. First shown back in 2022, the model is pitched as a fully electric alternative to the legendary Wrangler, with its spirit and capability kept intact.

According to brand head Bob Broderdorf, the production Recon is already finished, with a full debut set for the coming months. The electric SUV sits on the STLA Large platform shared with the Wagoneer S and the new Dodge Charger, and it will be built in Toluca, Mexico.

The recipe sounds convincing: removable doors, an opening roof, and chunky off-road tires give it the feel of a true trail machine. Reports point to a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive and electronic differential locks, a combo that promises serious ability despite a unibody structure.

Outside, short overhangs, generous ground clearance, and hefty recovery hooks set the tone, while steel skid plates protect the underside.

Jeep remains confident in the newcomer despite waning EV interest after the end of federal subsidies. Broderdorf stressed that the company had built a strong vehicle and now needed to focus on selling it and continually refining it.

As a result, Recon EV is on track to become Jeep’s first fully electric model with authentic off-road DNA, ready for both highways and the rough stuff.
