Volkswagen ID. Polo R-Line spy photos show sporty electric compact
Spy photos reveal Volkswagen's ID. Polo R-Line, a sporty electric compact with 211 hp, 450 km range, and €35k price. Get the latest details on design and specs.
Volkswagen is preparing to unveil its most anticipated compact electric vehicle—the ID. Polo. Fresh spy photos have provided the most detailed look yet at the sporty R-Line version. Two prototypes, spotted during winter testing while charging, retained only minimal camouflage, revealing key elements of the production design.
Both examples are painted black—one of the color options available at launch. The new narrow headlights with rectangular internal graphics are clearly visible, visually echoing the rear lights. The LED light bar remains hidden, but the bumper shape and single air intake are already in final production form.
The spies managed to capture two types of 19-inch wheels with 225 mm tires. The R-Line features a lowered silhouette, a large rear spoiler, and a distinctive rear pillar cut reminiscent of the Golf. The taillights remain disguised, but it's apparent the production ID. Polo will get a full-width light bar and an illuminated VW logo.
The interior couldn't be assessed—the prototypes didn't open during charging. However, the charging port location by the front right wheel arch is visible, along with instruction stickers: this confirms the MEB Entry standard. An important distinction is the rear disc brakes, unlike the updated ID.3 which retains drums.
The R-Line will be the top version: its front-axle electric motor produces 211 horsepower, and the 52 kWh battery should deliver up to 450 km of range. The price is expected to be around €35,000 without subsidies. The debut is scheduled for spring, with first deliveries planned for late summer—production will be localized in Martorell.
