Mercedes-Benz VLE electric minivan details and features

Mercedes-Benz VLE electric minivan offers 700 km WLTP range, 500 kW fast charging, and premium features like sliding doors and captain's chairs. Learn specs and launch info.

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the new VLE model—a premium multi-purpose minivan that marks the brand's return to the spacious family and corporate vehicle segment. Officially positioned as an MPV, the VLE effectively serves as the electric successor to the R-Class, offering high comfort levels, sliding doors, and increased cabin volume.

Built on an 800-volt architecture also used for the upcoming Mercedes CLA EV, the VLE can add 353 km of range in 15 minutes with DC fast charging up to 500 kW, according to WLTP standards. It features a new NMC battery with a capacity of 115 kWh. The VLE 300 variant is expected to achieve a WLTP range of 700 km, with Mercedes estimating the powertrain efficiency at 93% on long-distance routes.

The front-wheel-drive VLE 300, with 272 horsepower, will launch first. Later, the VLE 400 4Matic will follow, adding a rear motor for a combined 409 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 97 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

The interior is a key part of the concept. The maximum configuration seats eight, with both rear rows optionally equipped with captain's chairs that swivel backward. The second row includes a 31.3-inch panoramic screen that can be split in two. The seats do not fold into the floor but are easily removable and roll out as a module.

The AirMatic air suspension adjusts ride height and uses Google Maps data to lower the vehicle in aerodynamically efficient zones—a rare feature even in the premium segment. Rear-wheel steering reduces the turning circle to match that of the compact CLA sedan.

The VLE will debut fastest in Europe and China, with a U.S. launch set for 2027. Pricing, trim levels, and U.S. specifications will be revealed closer to launch, but assembly will be localized in Spain, which could impact U.S. costs due to tariffs.
