Mercedes-Benz Japan has unveiled the limited-edition Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC Black Masterpiece, a rare version of the compact crossover with only 80 units produced. Priced at 10 million yen, the automaker highlights that this cost includes a rich set of options typically offered as extras. Pre-orders are being taken through an online showroom until March 13, after which any remaining vehicles will be available through the dealer network.

The special edition's defining feature is its all-black aesthetic. The body is painted in Cosmos Black Metallic, while the AMG Night and AMG Night II packages give external elements—such as the grille, badges, splitter, roof rails, and exhaust trim—a glossy black or black chrome finish. The look is completed by 20-inch black AMG wheels. Inside, the same theme continues with Black Open-Pore Wood trim and black leather seats that emphasize the premium execution.

The standard equipment list includes items buyers often select as paid packages, such as a head-up display, Burmester audio system, sound personalization, a panoramic roof, and logo projection. This makes the special edition more advantageous compared to the regular GLA 35 when equipped to a similar level.

Technically, the car matches the standard AMG GLA 35 model. Under the hood lies a 2.0-liter turbocharged M260 engine producing 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, paired with a 48-volt system and a BSG starter-generator. This setup enhances engine responsiveness and reduces fuel consumption. The AMG Speedshift DCT 8-speed transmission delivers quick shifts and dynamic throttle response. An active exhaust system with a flap allows the sound character to shift from calm to sporty.

The interior is driver-focused: an AMG Performance Steering wheel with aluminum paddles and a flattened lower section improves control, while sport modes combined with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive make the Black Masterpiece a fully dynamic crossover that emphasizes style and exclusivity.
